Abstract: We will discuss the properties of the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of a graded module. Then we will sketch some of the ideas in the proof that when a finite group G acts on a polynomial ring in n variables the regularity of the ring of invariants is at most 0. As a consequence we can show that the ring is generated in degrees at most n(|G|-1) (for n,|G| not 1).
